The Guangzhou Seismic Control and Structural Safety Laboratory has recently been accredited by the Ministry of Science and Technology as a provincial-class key lab for joint development by provincial and national authorities.

The lab was built by Guangzhou University.

The lab has performed monitoring and testing of seismic or structural safety for several mega structures and public buildings. The lab has also completed a seismic study of Guangzhou's new TV tower, the world's highest TV tower.

The lab is particularly strong in structural damping and control, seismic engineering and the safety and explosion protection of large-scaled complex structures.

The lab is one of the eight labs newly accredited as national key labs. It's the first national key lab in seismic control, jointly developed by the Ministry of Science and Technology and Guangdong provincial authorities.
