Guangzhou, China (Sports Network) - Virginie Razzano of France and Israel's Tzipora Obziler won semifinal matches Saturday and will play for the title at the Guangzhou International women's tennis event.
The second-seeded Razzano rallied for a 3-6, 6-1, 6-1 victory over fourth- seeded Dominika Cibulkova of Slovakia, while Obziler was leading 6-1, 3-1 against Anastasia Rodionova when the Russian was forced to retire because of heat illness.
Razzano will try for her first WTA singles title in her third career appearance in a final. She lost in the 2004 championship match in Tashkent and dropped this year's Forest Hills Classic final to Gisela Dulko just prior to the U.S. Open.
Obziler will play in a WTA final for the first time. Her best previous finishes were a semifinal appearance at this event last year and a run to the semifinals in Bangalore back in February.
This will be the first meeting between the two.
The winner will collect $25,855.
