In addition to daily direct flights from Sydney to Guangzhou during the peak Christmas-New Year period, China Southern Airlines will be introducing a nonstop service from Melbourne to Guangzhou.
The new direct flight from Melbourne to Guangzhou eliminates the need for passengers in Melbourne to fly to Guangzhou via Sydney. Departing at 10.40am every Monday and Thursday, the twice-weekly flight will arrive in Guangzhou at 5.00pm. The service will be operated with a three-class Boeing 777 which seats 282 passengers – 24 in Business Class, 51 in Premium Economy Class and 2 07 in Economy Class.
China Southern will also be increasing its five weekly Sydney to Guangzhou flights to daily services during the peak travel months of December, January and February. These two additional weekly services will run from 30 November 2007 until 1 March next year.
Starting from 29 October, China Southern will retire its Airbus A330 aircraft on services from Australia and replace it with the larger Boeing 777-200.
China Southern has also placed orders for a number of narrow-bodied Boeing 737s, Airbus A320 family twinjets, Boeing 787 Dreamliners and the new Airbus A380 super jumbo.
