Guangzhou Municipal Government will plan and set up 75 public plazas in the city in South China, as announced by the government's news office recently, Guangzhou Daily reports.

The plazas, including 23 that are culture focused, will be located in the 8 districts of the city and 2 outskirt regions, Panyu and Huadu.
The Guangzhou Urban Planning Bureau has already specified the setup of Tianhe Sports Center Plaza, Hongcheng Business Plaza, Sightseeing Tower Square, and New Urban Axis Cultural Plaza in Zhujiang New City, Hero Plaza and Hai Xin Sha Public Square.
Guangzhou is targeting to build one standard public plaza for every 1,000 urban residents by 2009.
There are some 240 plazas, where over 300 shows are staged annually in the city at present, according to news office statistics.
