The Broadway Mansions Hotel(Shanghai dasha) is located on the northern tip of the Bund, on the big turn of the famous Huangpu River at its junction with Suzhou Creek. This hotel is famed as the apartment block that used to house American officers post World War II, when it was known as Broadway Mansions. As one of the historic buildings on the bund, the Shanghai Mansions dominates the best location along the Huangpu river, overlooking both the old cluster of buildings on the western bank and the new sky-scrapers of Pudong across the river.
This four star hotel is 25 minutes from the Hongqiao International Airport and 10 minutes from the railway station. This makes it, along with its proximity to Shanghai's main sights, including the Bund and the People's Square via Nanjing Road, a fairly useful place to be situated. The Pudong International Airport can also be reached in 1 hour by car.
The hotel has 246 rooms in all, with standard rooms, suites and deluxe suites. All the rooms have an IDD telephone, central air-conditioning, a private bath, a colour TV, and a refrigirated minibar. For business there is a business center and a variety of conference rooms, while for those with more of a relaxing stay in mind there is a sauna, a gym, a beauty parlor, a dancing floor and table tennis facilities.
In terms of restaurants and bars the Mansions is fairly well equipped serving a selection of Western and Chinese dishes. The Slender West Lake Restaurant is recommended, famous for its Huaiyang cuisine, alledgedly one of "the four best cuisines of China". For great views of the Bund and the Huangpu River check out the Scenery-seeing Pavilion Hall.
